About the Reader's Versions of the Grand Staff

One needs to be aware that there are two distinct codes in every note of traditional notation - the PITCH code and the RHYTHM code.  Reader's Versions of the grand staff presented on this site are designed primarily to deal with the problems of reading the pitch code. This is the code that causes the main reading problems.

For rhythm, the Reader's Versions are notated on timelines. Unlike the timelines used for key maps, these timelines are notated horizontally to match the horizontal notation of the grand staff. In other respects, these timelines are the same as used for the key maps.

You will find detailed information about these Reader's Versions in unit ART-10 linked at the end of this page.
